“Keep your head up, kid/I know you can swim/But you’ve got to move your legs…”

We Are Augustines was formed by ex-?Pela members Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson, and includes Rob Allen on drums. Much of the material on the band's debut album, Rise Ye Sunken Ships, documents the most traumatic period of lead vocalist/guitarist McCarthy's life in which he lost both his schizophrenic mother and his brother, James, to suicide. Named “Best Alternative Album” for 2011 by iTunes U.S. and one of NPR’s “Top 5 Concept Albums of 2011," Rise Ye Sunken Ships represents the culmination of many years of personal struggle and eventual triumph in the completion of a shimmering album that had been floundering about for some time.

Dine Alone introduces We Are Augustines

This trio has rapidly become one of Brooklyn's poster acts for their larger-than-life style of anthemic rock - and the proof is obvious: Their 2011 debut, Rise Ye Sunken Ships, was awarded "Best Alternative Album" from iTunes Rewind last year, while the band's also slotted for Coachella 2012 (among a heap of European/North American dates). Dine Alone is beyond excited to be working with these gents, so keep your eyes peeled for plenty more from We Are Augustines.
